QWO

Qwo is the first FDA-approved treatment that specifically targets cellulite.

QWO is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.

Most women will have cellulite in their lifetime–about 9 out of 10 women, in fact. That means your tough workouts and healthy eating habits are fantastic for your fitness and overall wellness—but won’t do much to reduce your cellulite. If you really want to reduce cellulite, you need to understand what’s behind it.

What you need to know

  • QWO is non-surgical.

  • QWO is an injectable.

  • It’s thought that QWO works in 3 ways: releasing fibrous bands, redistributing fat cells, and stimulating the growth of new collagen.

Results after 2 treatments

Some women and their aesthetic specialists both agreed they noticed less dimpling after treatment with QWO. Results were assessed 28 days after the 3rd treatment.

QWO has been studied in more patients than any other FDA-approved cellulite treatment, with over 1,800 women participating.

In two pivotal phase 3 clinical studies of adult women with moderate to severe cellulite, 424 women were treated with QWO and 419 received placebo. Each woman received 3 treatments given 21 days apart.

QWO may cause serious side effects, including: allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions, including anaphylaxis, and injection site bruising.

Qwo is FDA-approved as an injectable treatment for moderate to severe cellulite on the buttocks of adult women. A series of treatments is recommended for proper results.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment to decrease the risk of bruising.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible, for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Bruising may take months to fully resolve.
  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or straining for 48 hours following treatment
  • Avoid medications and supplements that may increase the chance of bruising for 48 hours following treatment
  • You may wear compression garments (Spanx, biker shorts) following treatment to improve comfort

WHAT TO EXPECT POST TREATMENT

  • Bruising: Bruising is moderate to severe following Qwo treatment. 84% of study patients experienced bruising following treatment with Qwo. Bruising is often eggplant-purple and encompasses the entire buttock. Bruising typically resolves within 2-4 weeks. The first Qwo treatment has the most significant bruising and bruising typically lessens in severity with repeated treatments. The chance of significant bruising can be lessened by avoiding medications, supplements, and foods that can thin the blood (examples: Advil/ibuprofen, aspirin, alcohol, vitamin E, fish oil). QWO CELLULITE TREATMENT

The following may help to improve bruising:

  • Arnika Forte starting 1-3 days before treatment and continue until bruising has resolved. Take as directed on bottle.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure during treatment and for 2 months following last treatment to avoid postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (skin discoloration) in the area of treatment.
  • Soreness/discomfort/pain/warmth: Usually mild in nature and occurs during the first several days after treatment.
  • Discomfort is typically not significant enough to interrupt daily activities. Soreness was not correlated with sometimes dramatic appearance of bruising. Extra strength Tylenol can be taken to lessen discomfort associated with Qwo treatment.
  • Swelling: Swelling or fullness is likely to occur following treatment. This is a normal side effect and can persist for up to approximately 1-2 weeks following treatment.

QWO is the first and only FDA-approved injectable for moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.

It’s not fully understood how QWO works in moderate to severe cellulite. The enzymes in QWO—called collagenases—are believed to target a structural cause under your skin.

It’s thought that QWO works in 3 ways: releasing fibrous bands, redistributing fat cells, and stimulating the growth of new collagen.

Visible results may be achieved in 10 weeks. In clinical studies, women received 3 treatments of QWO, 21 days apart.

QWO is injected by your aesthetic specialist directly into targeted dimples in the buttocks using a small needle.

You should not receive QWO if you are allergic to any collagenase or the ingredients in QWO, or have an active infection in the treatment area.

If your aesthetic specialist determines that QWO is right for you, she or he will decide on a treatment plan, including total number of treatments.

Each treatment visit may include up to 2 treatment areas. QWO injections will be given 21 days apart for 3 treatment visits.

QWO may cause serious side effects including allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions, including anaphylaxis, and injection site bruising.

The most common side effects of QWO include: injection site bruising, pain, areas of hardness, itching, redness, discoloration, swelling and warmth in the treatment area.

These are not all the possible side effects of QWO.
